For kids and teens with Type 1 diabetes and their families

The Type 1 Club at the Wendy Novak Diabetes Institute was created by a family impacted by Type 1 diabetes. It is designed to provide the support, education and community that families need when they learn their child has Type 1 diabetes. Our goal is to provide families in Kentucky and Southern Indiana with support and resources as they adjust to a new “normal.” The club also seeks to promote awareness of Type 1 diabetes and offer opportunities for education.

The Type 1 Club is a parent-led group that offers members

  • Peer and family support at the time of diagnosis
  • Family events to connect a community with common needs
  • Volunteer or mentoring opportunities
  • Ongoing educational opportunities
  • Connection to resources through the Wendy Novak Diabetes Institute

The Type 1 Club is supported by the Children’s Hospital Foundation. The Wendy Novak Diabetes Institute is a partnership between Lift a Life Foundation, Norton Children’s Hospital and the University of Louisville.
